"The Statement" is a project that is currently on display at the Plymouth Art Centre in Plymouth WI until Jan 24 2010. This project was a collaboration with Mike Morris, Morris Glass Etching at 920-905-1111. The materials used were black ash, black walnut, English walnut, and bronze glass with a black back ground.
What a beautiful view! This a photo of two of the four chairs we delivered to the Dallas TX area this last May. This is just the second time I've painted our chairs. After doing so this I really like the look of them. Thank you Lois, for your order! I'm happy to hear how much you enjoy them.
The "Wind Man " has left the studio, soon to be place in the mantle. It was a challenging project with many hands involved. I would like to pay "Thanks" to the Valders Carving Club for all of their valuable input.
Where did the summer go! Fall is upon us, wet as it's been. Another week or so and the trees will be bare. Lot of exciting projects for this winter. I've just finished up a banister that is a replica of the 1850's. It was a great opportunity!
It's been hectic to say the least and "Thankful" I am! The "Wind Man", as you can see is almost finished. There are just a few more details to tend to and it will be ready for it's new home. It is going to be the face of a mantle. Welcoming folks to a warm fire on those chilly winter days.
Time has flown by! Here it is near the end of July and there is a lot to get before the show in Oct. The Fine Furnishing Show is going to be at the Harley Davidson Museum on the 1st weekend of Oct. 2009. We're really looking forward to this big event!!
The "Wind Man" carving is near complete, I'll be posting some pictures later this week!!
In my spare time I created a couple of canes for a dear friend. They are matching, both the body and the handle came form the same pieces of wood. Maple for the body, red oak for the handles with a maple laminate.
The carving of the "Wind Man" is underway. This is a picture of the end details. The face will be the center of this carving. When it is finished it will be the front of a fireplace mantle.
This is the chair that the client brought me to use the face as a guide for the fireplace mantle.
Wishing everyone a great Spring and Summer!!
I just got a commission to carve the "Wind Man". It is going to be the center piece for a mantle. It is going to be in red oak so some of the details are going to be a challenge. I purchased an air driven detail grinder to help out. So I needed to give it a test drive and this is what happened!!
